What is a Focus Group?

Online Surveys are the most common request from companies, but occasionally you will be asked to participate in Focus Groups. Focus groups can be online or at a specified location. Focus groups are discussions with small groups of up to eight to ten people who are carefully selected based on a set of criteria, with the discussion usually lasting one to two hours. Focus groups are more commonly associated with product testing. Participants in focus groups are selected and according to the target audience defined for the program, for example, adult male, adult female, parents with preschool aged children etc. Participants in Focus groups are generally rewarded more generously due to the length of time require and sometimes travel may be needed.
